Introduction-

India is one of the fascinating countries consisting of 28 States and 8 Union Territories. So, being the largest country different cultures are followed in different states and regions that add a spice to this beautiful ceremony i.e. marriage. For Example- A Punjabi wedding is not similar to a Bengali or a Maharashtrian wedding. Marriages are considered as the biggest events in a family. Most weddings in the country span from a couple of days to weeks depending on the type of wedding planned. Lengthy, joyous occasions filled with multiple ceremonies, rituals and celebrations is all that describes a big fat Indian wedding.

History Of Indian Wedding-

The history of marriage is centuries old and arranged marriages are given utmost importance. In arranged marriages, marriage proposals are sent to the families to either of the both individuals. Horoscopes and the stars are matched and if everything goes right, a big fat Indian marriage takes place. The various traditions performed before, during or after the marriage includes the Bridal Mehndi function, the Haldi ceremony, the Sangit, the Main Wedding Ceremony, the Reception and the Grihapravesh. The Hindu wedding ceremony follows all the Vedic rituals and the three main rituals includes Kanyadaan, Panigrahana and Saptapada. Kanyadaan means giving away the bride to the groom by the father, Panigrahana implies the bride and groom holding hands in front of the fire and  Saptapada means making seven rounds around the sacred fire. But, every Hindu wedding doesn’t includes all these rituals. In India, when it comes to wedding celebrations every state or region have their own way to celebrate the beautiful bond between the two individuals.
